Summer is punctuated with bursts of very hot, dry weather followed by sharp, cool changes. Expect temperatures in January and February to be over 30°C (86°F), with high UV ratings, so sunscreen is a must.

How to get from Melbourne Airport to the CBD
SkyBus Express runs every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day, from Southern Cross Station (AUD $19 one way). SkyBus also runs less frequent services from St Kilda, Southbank, Docklands, Frankston and Peninsula. If you drive, there is ample long- and short-term parking (book ahead for the best rates).
How many airports in Melbourne?
Melbourne has two main airports – Melbourne Airport and Avalon Airport. Melbourne Airport is the largest and busiest, servicing around 35 million domestic and international passengers a year. Most Jetstar domestic flights depart from T4 at Melbourne Airport, with some flights from Avalon near Geelong. Melbourne also has two much smaller airports – Moorabbin Airport and Essendon Airport – which mainly service nearby regional centres.

Melbourne Airport is the closest airport to the city – it’s 23 kilometres north-west of the city centre. Avalon Airport is 55 kilometres south-west of the city, and 22 kilometres north of Geelong. A taxi from Avalon to Melbourne is around AUD $130, and about AUD $50 to Geelong. The SkyBus Avalon Geelong Express is AUD $22 to Melbourne and AUD $18 to Geelong.
