Mary’s Bed and Breakfast is located close to Bold Park. It has an interesting history, dating back to the early 1800's.
Camel Lake owes its name to the fact that camels destined for the goldfields in the late 19th century were quarantined at this site. Distinct circular marks of tethering are evident on some of the trees. Ernest Giles rested and watered his camels here after his epic journey from Port Augusta to Perth in May 1875.
Pristine Cottesloe and City Beaches are within 5km to the west of Mary’s BnB and Claremont Train Station is just 2km away. City Beach is a 6 minute drive. A short drive to the north along West Coast Highway and then left at Karrinyup Rd takes you to the sunset coat drive. It is arguably Perth’s most picturesque drive with the road hugging the coast and offering a beautiful outlook to the Indian Ocean between Trigg Island and Hillarys along West Coast Drive.
Only 50m away from Mary’s BnB is a bus stop with regular services to the Claremont railway station and directly to Perth City. It is a 35 minute journey to the Perth CBD on Transperth Bus 28. Claremont showgrounds are 10 - 15 minutes walk. It hosts the Perth Royal Show and many other events during the year such as the Caravan and camping show
It is 20 minutes walk to HBF Stadium to the north. HBF Stadium sits in a sports complex comprising the WA Basketball Centre, Rugby WA, WA Athletics Stadium and the WA Institute of Sport.
Saturday morning Mount Claremont Farmers Market is only a 5 minute walk away and just 3 minutes further along Davies Road is Bilby’s where the chargrilled burgers include kangaroo and camel.Turn right on Montgomery Ave and it is a 6 minute walk to La mousse cafe & patisserie, beside the Mt Claremont library and 10 minute walk to the local Mount Claremont Village on Strickland St where Deli Chicci is worth the walk.Mary's Bed and Breakfast is only 2.2 km from Bay View Terrace & Claremont Quarter shopping and dining precinct.The King studio has a private entrance, ensuite and sofa. For most of the year breakfast is served in the garden. There are some wet days in Perth’s winter and occasionally some cold days too and we set up breakfast inside on those occasions.
