All Turtle Family Rooms are set amongst Heron Island’s ancient Pisonia Forest, which comes alive with hundreds of thousands of seabirds during nesting season from October through March. Convenient to the pool and a short walk from the beach, these spacious rooms feature an en-suite bathroom with shower. Family rooms offer a ground floor setting, however one block of four rooms is available with either ground floor or first floor rooms. The Turtle Family rooms include 1 Queen Bed and 2 Single Beds. An additional rollaway bed can be added to the ground floor rooms at a cost of $75 per night.

Experience some of Australia’s best dive spots - more than 20 dive sites are available, half of which are only 15 minutes from the beach.At certain times of the year, turtle nesting and hatching take precedent over all other island activities. At Heron Island, the resort has been thoughtfully designed to blend with the surrounding environment.In the crystal clear aquamarine waters surrounding the island, stunning coral gardens and sea creatures great and small flourish in abundance and colour. They make Heron Island a natural place for divers, swimmers, and people who love to snorkel. The resort also offers an array of choices for those who like to explore and laze on beaches far from crowds, with no reef “day-trippers” to spoil the peace and quiet. Please Note: Heron Island is accessible by boat and helicopter from Gladstone. The boat transfer will depart Gladstone for Heron Island at 09:30 daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays. The return boat transfer will depart from Heron Island at 12:45 daily, except Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Heron Islander will not be operating on Christmas Day, 25 December. The cost of the transfer on the Heron Islander is AU $85 per adult each way and AU $45 per child each way. Please contact the Heron Island Reservations Team to book your boat transfer or enquire about the cost of a scenic helicopter transfer. Please note there is no mobile phone coverage on Heron Island.
