Recently awarded the 2009 Australian Institute of Architects Heritage Award for The Last Villa, this property is receiving widespread acclaim. Designed by Steven Last, there are five self-contained apartments overlooking the River Derwent. The accommodation is suitable for individual travellers, couples or groups desiring a private retreat. It is one of Last Architect’s unique properties, a multi-award winning architectural and interior design practice that combines architecture, art and collectable furniture in a self-contained environment.Privacy from the outside world is the experience when you arrive behind the secretive sandstone featured facade of this iconic building. Tasmanian wine and gourmet food tastings are intended during summer, with a program of events planned. Art within the villas is original and occasionally for sale with prices available upon request.Enjoy a pleasant walk to one of the renowned seafood restaurants, delicatessens and shops nearby. A bus stop is conveniently located at the door, which can take you to Salamanca Place and Hobart’s city centre within minutes.
