Taralee is a Biodynamic certified stone fruit orchard in the Wirrabara Forest, in the Southern Flinders Ranges of South Australia, 11 kilometres west of the township of Wirrabara.Accommodation is available in two self contained cottages which overlook the orchard and forest in quiet and scenic locations. Both have two bedrooms, lounge room fires and large north facing verandas.Relax on the veranda in Summer or by the cozy fire in Winter, or go for walks through the tall trees or up the rugged hillsides.This is the ideal location for bushwalking, cycling, exploring the region, or for simply enjoying a relaxing break.The Heysen and Mawson Trails are nearby, as is the historic Old Forest Nursery and picnic grounds.Taralee is a 'Demeter' certified Stone Fruit property. We have plantings of apricot, peach, nectarine, plum and quince, with smaller plantings of apples, pears, persimmons and pomegranates.
Our fresh fruit season is from early December through to the end of May, and dried fruit is available year round, as 'farm Gate' sales or from the local Producers Markets that we attend.
We also have free range poultry, large vege garden, beehives and a small cattle herd, so we are a diverse and productive property.B&B guests are free to walk around the property and see what we are doing, and ask as many questions as they like.
