Hit the sand and waves at Cottesloe Beach

Grab a towel and head to 'Cott' to swim, snorkel, surf and soak up spectacular sunsets over the ocean. When you see the Cottesloe Beach's silky white sand and gentle, turquoise surf, you'll see why it's so famous. Have a leisurely lunch at a café overlooking the water or walk the scenic beachside path ­– Cottesloe Beach is a winner from every angle.

Spend a day in Fremantle

History, dining, shopping, art – Freo's a goldmine.

Jump on a train and half an hour later you'll be in Fremantle, a pretty port town known for its 19th-century streetscape, historical attractions and colourful vibe. Visit the iconic Fremantle Markets, dine in at eclectic eateries and excellent cafes, and discover why 'Freo' is one of Australia's craft-beer hotspots. Family-friendly beaches and a lively music and arts scene complete the picture.

Meet the quok-stars of Rottnest Island.

Car-free Rottnest Island is surrounded by crystal-clear waters, secluded bays and breathtaking ocean views. You can hike, surf, swim and snorkel, or just hang out on the sand. Tour the island on a Segway, tee off at an incredibly scenic golf course and dive into the island's history. Rottnest offers a range of family-friendly activities. It's also home to country's – and maybe the world's - cutest marsupial: the quokka, found almost nowhere else. It's hard not to be smitten with these smiley little animals.
