Jetstar Group Booking FAQ’s
Q) How many passengers qualify for a group booking?
To qualify for a group booking there must be a minimum of 10 passengers travelling on at least one flight.
Q) Do I get a discount for making a group booking?
Group fares are not discounted and are generally priced more than our internet rates; as Group fares offer added features including:
- Flexible payment timelines
- Free and unlimited name changes
- Free standard seat selection
- Checked baggage included^1
- Pooled baggage allowance
- Exclusive and dedicated support
Q) Can I make a group booking on the internet?
No, you can only book for up to 9 passengers on www.jetstar.com
Q) How can I make payment?
Jetstar accepts payment by Credit Card, Direct Deposit and Agency Payment (registered travel agents only).
Q) Can passengers return on different dates?
Yes, as long as there are still 10 passengers remaining on at least one other flight (change fees and fare difference may be applicable).
Q) How much luggage can I take?
All group fares include checked baggage^1 plus 7 kg of carry-on per person. Up to an additional 20 kg (40 kg total) excess baggage per person can be pre-purchased if required at a discounted rate, up to 48 hr
Jetstar Asia 3K flights: You can purchase up to 15 kg (40 kg total) of additional excess baggage per person if required.
Q) Do you have group check in?
Jetstar does not have allocated group check-in desks at the airport. Group passengers can check- in individually upon arrival or one after the other at the Jetstar check-in counter. We recommend Groups arrive for check-in at least 90 minutes prior to departure for AU/NZ Domestic flights and at least 2 hr prior for International flights. Groups will not be able to use kiosks or web check-in.
Q) What ID do I need at check-in?
Domestic
All passengers, including children and infants travelling with an adult, are required to provide identification acceptable to Jetstar. The following forms of photo identification are acceptable provided they are current and not expired.
- Passport;
- Drivers License;
- Company issued identification;
- Student ID.
- An original or certified copy of your birth certificate or document is an acceptable alternative
- Medicare Card, for children under high school age travelling with their parent or guardian.
For School/Student Groups that will not be able to present the above, please contact the Group Reservations team who may be able to suggest an acceptable alternative.
International
Passengers must present their valid passport (with required validity period) for check-in at the airport. It is the passenger’s responsibility at all times to have appropriate travel documentation and entry permits such as Visas. Some countries may require proof of onward or return travel. All children and infants travelling with an adult require their own passport or should be registered in either of their parent’s passports.
For people travelling to the USA only: Please ensure you have supplied JQ with all passengers’ full name and date of birth information prior to departure. You must also obtain your ESTA / electronic Visa at least 72 hr prior to travel.
Q) Are group fares commissionable?
All group fares are Nett only and no commission or remuneration is paid.
Q) Are meals included in group fares?
Group fares are quoted excluding meals. Meals can be pre purchased on long haul and some short haul international flights, please contact the Jetstar Group Desk to find out if your flight has the pre purchase meal option.
Q) Can I charter a flight for my group?
All Jetstar fleet are in continual operation on regular scheduled services, however requests are considered. For more information please contact our Jetstar Group Desk:

Q) How far out can I book my group?
Jetstar fares are published approximately 10 months in advance. Jetstar Groups can provide valid quotes for travel within the published range.
Q) Can my group be seated together?
Seats will be allocated upon finalisation of full payment. We will do our best to ensure that all passengers are seated together, subject to availability.
Q) Do you offer FOC seats?
Jetstar doesn’t have an FOC or complimentary policy regardless of group size or spend.
Q) My group will be travelling with Oversized Luggage. Will charges apply?
An oversized item handling fee applies if you’re travelling with sporting equipment, a musical instrument, or any item longer than one metre as part of your checked-baggage allowance. Please notify the Jetstar Groups Team if your group intends to travel with these items, so that a revised quote can be provided.
Q) When planning school group travel, how many adults are required to accompany children?
One Accompanying Passenger can assist a maximum of four passengers that do not meet Jetstar’s independent traveller requirements. For more information, see Young passengers travelling alone.
