Check-in and boarding timelines

You must arrive at the airport at least two hours early as check-in closes strictly one hour before departure, and to allow enough time to go through Immigration and Customs.

Online check-in is not available for domestic flights departing from an international terminal.

Remember, if you’re not at the boarding gate on time, you won’t be able to board your flight and may lose your fare in full.

Note. Non-photographic ID will only be accepted for infants travelling with an adult who presents photo ID. In this case, a birth certificate is acceptable.

  • Limits to the amount of liquids, aerosols, gels and powders allowed in your carry-on baggage
  • Products must be in containers of 100ml or less (broadly equivalent to 100 grams or less) and carried together in a transparent, resealable plastic bag

Note. Medication, baby milk/food and food for special dietary requirements are exempt.

Immigration and Customs

You’ll need to arrive early to allow time to go through Immigration and Customs. There are a few other changes to be across:

  • Smart Gates cannot be used when going through Immigration
  • Airport Customer Service Agents will check your ID and attach a ‘D’ (Domestic) sticker to your boarding pass
  • You must keep your boarding pass and present it at Customs clearance points before departure and upon arrival. This is required to comply with the Migration regulations administered by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)
  • Your flight will arrive at the international terminal, and you will have to go through Immigration and Customs on arrival
