Travel should be easy. Pay for flights in a currency that’s convenient for you using the Jetstar currency selector when you book.
Why choose a currency?
Your Jetstar booking displays the currency of your departing country by default.
When you pay with a credit or debit card in a currency different from your country of departure, you may be charged fees by your bank for paying in a foreign currency. These fees may only be disclosed on your bank statement, depending on your bank.
By selecting your preferred currency, you see the exact payable amount, inclusive of all fees, at the time of the booking.
Can I pay for everything in my booking with my chosen currency?
Jetstar supports 16 currencies. You can choose your payment currency for all Jetstar Airways (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Jetstar Japan (GK) flights, and most extras if your currency is supported. Some bookings like car hire and hotels may require you to pay in person at the venue and therefore cannot be paid for in a currency other than that of your departing country.
Refunds
If your refund request is approved, you will receive it in the same currency you paid in.
Credit vouchers are issued in the currency of your country of departure.
Insurance products can only be refunded in the default currency by the insurance provider. Please refer to your Tax Invoice and Certificate of Insurance for the amount and currency you will be refunded in.
See if you’re eligible to make an insurance refund request opens in new window.
What about Price Beat Guarantee bookings?
Price Beat Guarantee bookings can only be made in the currency of the country you’re departing from.
Supported payment options
You can use the currency selector and make payments in any available currency with Visa and Mastercard debit or credit cards, and American Express credit cards. These same payment options are also available to use with Apple Pay for Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights where the original currency is Australian dollars (AUD).
For payments using PayPal, you can use the currency selector to choose Australian dollars (AUD), New Zealand dollars (NZD), Singapore dollars (SGD), Japanese Yen (JPY) Thai baht (THB), US dollars (USD) or Hong Kong dollars (HKD).
If you have a Jetstar Airways (JQ) domestic flight, or a Jetstar Airways (JQ) international flight departing from Australia or New Zealand, the currency selector can also be used if you have a remaining balance to be paid after using Qantas Points, Vouchers and Gift Cards.
How can I tell what currency I've paid in?
You will receive a tax invoice attached in the email containing your itinerary. You can see what currency you paid in under the "Payments Received" section of your tax invoice
