Yes, you can bring your bike, but remember; an oversized item handling fee applies to any item with a single side longer than one metre (1000mm, 39in), including wheels, handles and packaging.
Important – the weight of your bike will count towards your total checked baggage weight, so make sure you purchase enough.
The oversized item fee is a separate handling fee, paid per item and does not add any extra weight to your checked baggage allowance.
Pay the oversized item fee when you book, or before you fly at Manage booking, and you’ll save time paying at the airport. See Oversized baggage for more details.
Packing your bike
You will need to pack your bike in a suitable bike bag or box. We don’t provide bags or boxes - it’s up to you to make sure your bike is prepared for travel.
To add your bike as checked baggage, you’ll need to:
- Deflate the tyres,
- Detach the pedals,
- Fix the handle bars parallel to the frame, and
- If the bike is longer than 180cm, the front wheel must be detached. You’ll need to fix it inside the bike bag alongside the rear wheel.
Tandems, recumbent bicycles and bike trailers can also be checked in as baggage, as long as they meet size and weight requirements, see Oversized baggage. Fold-up bikes do not need to travel in a bike pack.
Remember: no single item bag or item can weigh more than 32kg.

Maximum length
The maximum length of your oversized items depends on both the Jetstar carrier you’re flying with and the type of aircraft. You can find the aircraft type you’re flying on when you book, on the Choose flights page – just open the details link in the flight listing. The aircraft type is also listed on your itinerary. For journeys with multiple carriers and aircraft types, the lowest maximum size limit applies.
See size and weight restrictions for checked baggage for more details. Not all fares include checked baggage
Checked baggage is not included with Economy Starter fares. For other fares, check how much baggage allowance is included.
Remember – the best time to add a baggage allowance is when you book.
Baggage charges at the airport
If you haven't added baggage and you arrive at the airport with checked baggage, charges will apply.
You'll be charged a fee for up to 15kg of baggage per passenger, and after that for every additional kilo at the per kilo rate. If you have added checked baggage to your booking but arrive with more than your allowance you’ll be charged for excess baggage. Excess baggage is charged per kilo. We can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to add excess baggage to your flight.
Make sure you check our policy for baggage transfers if you have flight connections on your itinerary.
